The Army on Friday said that an M-24 sniper rifle, IEDs and landmines belonging to the Pakistani Army and a telescope were recovered from a terror cache along the Amarnath route.

The Army has said that it appears Pakistani Army is tryingto disrupt the ongoing Amarnath Yatra in the state.

Chinar Corps Commander Lt General K J S Dhillon addressed a press conference in Srinagar and said, “A Pakistan Army landmine has also been recovered from one of the caches of terrorists.”The Army then assured thepeople of Jammu and Kashmir that no one will be allowed to disrupt peace in the state.

Chinar Corps Commander Lt General KJS Dhillon and J&K Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh addressed a joint press conference in Srinagar and said that Pakistan is trying to disrupt peace in Kashmir.

IG CRPF Zulfiqar Hasan said, “Amarnath Yatra has seen unprecedented turnout and inspite of many threats it has been peaceful, there have been serious attempts to disrupt the yatra but it has been unsuccessful due to the hard work of security personnel, use of technology and cooperation of people.”

The Army also displayed Pakistani weapons recovered from theAmarnath Yatra route, providing proof of Pakistan’s terror plot.“Situation onthe Line of Control is under control and very much peaceful. Infiltration bidsfrom Pakistan side are being successfully thwarted,” Lt General KJS Dhillonsaid.

“Type of IEDs we are examining and the IED expert terroristswe are capturing and eliminating point to the fact that Pakistan is trying todisrupt peace in Kashmir. We assure the awaam of Kashmir that no one will beallowed to disrupt peace,” he said.These recoveries were made along theAmarnath Yatra route during operations launched in response to intelligencethat Pakistani terrorists were planning to target the annual pilgrimage.“AnM-24 American sniper rifle with a telescope was also recovered from a terrorcache along Shri Amarnath ji route,” he added.Meanwhile, J&K DGP DilbagSingh said the overall number of active militants in the Valley and in Jammuregion has come down.

“We had done an in-depth analysis of terrorism in Kashmir.83 per cent of local people who pick up weapons had record of stone pelting. Irequest all mothers, if today your child throws stones at security forces forRs 500 then he’ll become terrorist tomorrow,” KJS Dhillon said.
